Sweet Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) is a perennial herb with feathery leaves and yellow flowers that is used as both a spice and a vegetable. The essential oil has a spicy, sweet, anise-like scent, reminiscent of  black licorice.  The aroma is balancing, restoring and warming.  Traditionally, Fennel has been used to relieve menstrual cramping, regulate irregular menstrual cycles and to relieve flatulence.
