Juniper
Juniper (Juniperus communis) Traditionally, the Greeks used juniper berries in many olympic events because they believed the the berries helped increase stamina. Historically, the essential oil was valued as a decongestant, diuretic and as a circulatory stimulant. The aroma of juniper is fresh, woody, piney and somewhat resinous. Topically, juniper essential oil is astringent and detoxifying to the skin.
Side note: Juniper berries are the main ingredient in gin.
